Yes, Venus did not get the Miss Universe Title, but to be part of the Top five finalists was a major, major achievement (:D). It’s been a while since a Filipina beauty was recognized in Miss Universe Beauty Pageant. The last that I can recall was Miriam Quiambao, who was the 1st Runner-up during her time.
Even the two former Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz and 1973 Margie Moran defend Venus on her critics. Margie said that being on the top 5 out of 80 contestants is really an achievement on itself.
Let’s be proud that Venus Raj made it to the top 5, after the tragedy that happened before the pageant, she did contribute a lot in boosting our morale.
