What is “Pahiyas” Festival?

Pahiyas Festival is one of the most colorful, famous and most awaited festivals in the Philippines. It is annually celebrated in the town of Lucban, Quezon. The Pahiyas is derived from word “hiyas.” This is a celebration of harvest in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers, peasants, and laborers.

The town is lavishly decorated; even the small houses are adorned. Most of the decorations are made of food such as fruit, vegetables and the famous kipings. There are stores that also sell different native products from Lucban such as buli, bayong, abaniko and other handicraft goodies.

The festival wouldn’t be completed without the famous pansit hab-hab, longganisang lucban and broas. These are the delicacies of Lucban, a must buy.

Indeed, Lucban is really the Summer Capital of Quezon.
