We celebrated my daughter’s 4th birthday last November 6, 2013. The first celebration was held at Learnpoint Kiddie School together with her classmates, teachers and some of my co-parents, while the other one spent at home with our family, relatives and friends.
As part of my yearly routine, Barbie was the chosen theme for her party, inspired by the movie, Barbie and the Pink Shoes.
Since I’m an obsessive-compulsive-dotting mommy, I ensured that I know everything, even the nitty-gritty stuff. I designed the invitation for her classmates, packed the small loot bags of sweets, finalized the food list, shopped some ‘Barbie theme’ party stuff (which are so expensive at the SM Megamall, I just don’t have time to visit Divisoria), conceptualized the look of her birthday cakes and its toppers, dressed her like a ballerina and also cooked some of the food.
It was hard compared to her previous birthday parties due to the morning celebration at school as we need to prepare two sets of food, cakes, etcetera. It was not just physically exhausting, but also financially (hahaha).
Deciding what will be her birthday cakes was not easy as customization of the cake based on my design cost around 3000 pesos (2 8×8 birthday cakes), which obviously not practical. After several days of contemplating, I decided to get 2 plain pink cakes and 8 candles. I designed cake toppers and bought a crown. For 810 pesos, I managed to have 2 pretty birthday cakes for my little love. It just a matter of ‘DIY talent’ and creativity.
Maja blanca ala Tatay Bamboo seemed the crowd’s favorite. My sister helped me preparing ham and cheese rolls, hubby and I joined our forces on the macaroni salad, my aunt cooked the spaghetti, Tatay was in charged on the pancit canton, while I’m assigned on the tuna carbonara. We just ordered some side dishes, while my mother-in-law brought Shanghai rolls. Collaborative effort isn’t it? Thanks to my husband for funding (hahaha) our daughter’s birthday celebration.
I love preparing/hosting parties, I will talk about birthday preps again on Andi’s 5th birthday! Thank you!
